Senior Architect
At Giannone Petricone Associates (GPA) we are designing environments inspired by a love of city-making and contemporary urban culture. From large-scale urban redevelopments to well-crafted interiors (and everything in-between) our work relishes in a close attention to detail and material expression, provocative programs, and thorough investigation and infiltration of local contexts.
We are growing and looking to hire architects and designers that will complement our great team of creative individuals and help us rise to the challenges of the next level of exciting projects. Currently, we are seeking an experienced Senior Architect with a passion for master planning and the design and documentation of mixed-use developments.
GPA relies on its senior staff to see the big picture and lead the successful execution of projects by being a leader and dedicated team player, bringing creativity and approaching tasks with ingenuity.
Qualifications
To be the successful candidate you will have a commitment to design excellence and execution and strong skills in the production and co-ordination of contract documents with annotated and dimensioned drawings. You must be able to demonstrate experience ranging from concept design through to contract administration.
You will have the ability to share design ideas, communicate clearly, develop concepts and present unique design proposals. The role is diverse and will involve individual work as well as significant teamwork. A senior staff member is a critical point person who must effectively manage varying workloads while coordinating with team members, clients, contractors, and others.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, architectural science or architectural technology.
- Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
- Minimum 8+ years professional working experience not including co-operative education placements.
- Experience with local municipal approvals process.
- GPA team members work together in studio; there is no remote component to this role.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Work with Associates to coordinate internal project deliverables
- Provide oversight in the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of project phases
Design
- Develop design conception, design detailing and advance/oversee production of presentation materials.
- Lead development of construction documents and follow up with design work as drawings and construction progress.
- Support Associates with ensuring design continuity.
Technical
- Support Associates in site coordination, work with contractors in solving construction and site issues.
- Oversee and lead the production of architectural drawings and models.
- Support Associates in maintaining and managing all project documentation related to architectural design and contract administration.
- Support contract administration and work effectively with contractors to resolve construction/ site issues.
- Perform effective analysis of applicable building codes, by-laws and other regulations and technical documents / reports to which a project may be subject.
People Level Responsibilities
- Inspire and motivate; collaborate across teams.
- Provide oversight, quality assurance and review work produced by junior team members to ensure GPA standards are met.
- Motivate staff by challenging them, engaging their creativity and recognizing achievements.
- Model behaviour and expectations for quality of work.

GPA offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with the candidate’s practical experience. The salary range for this role is $85,000-$100,000.
