“The Accelerating Accessibility Coalition (AAC) is a first-of-its-kind community of real estate development and accessibility leaders that aims to create a more accessible Canada. It is challenging home builders to make physical accessibility a greater priority as they build the millions of new homes needed across Canada in the next decade. The coalition is underpinned by the belief that accessible housing benefits everyone, and that a sign of an inclusive and prosperous country is where people of all ages and abilities can participate fully in society, including having access to homes that are barrier-free.”

Our Statement of Support:
Giannone Petricone Architects is founded on a commitment to design excellence at every scale of occupation. Critical to its measure is the universality of its reach, its inclusion, and its durability for lasting impact on future generations.
We resist a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach in favour of a design specificity that is tailored to urban opportunities, project objectives, and a multivalent public made of diverse individuals with diverse needs. At the centre of this work is acknowledging the power of removing barriers for an integrated accessibility that is inseparable from all aspects of a project. In this way, accessibility cannot be designed as an accommodation; rather, it must be seminal and central to the spatial experience.
Whether designing furnishings or interiors, buildings, or new urban communities, we take-on the responsibility to shape the city at every scale and understand that quality design is essential for the wellbeing and inclusion of every citizen. Designing for diversity, equity, inclusion, and durability are at the core of this mandate. A seamless, universal accessibility that creatively exceeds legislated standards, makes it possible.
